Builders hit the brakes. Why slower construction matters for Snohomish buyers.

By Mina Mina · Real Broker, LLC

One quieter story this spring was builders pulling back. National housing starts and new home sales both slowed, with starts falling to their lowest pace in years. It is easy to skip past that headline, but it has real consequences for a growing area like Snohomish County.

Today's slowdown is tomorrow's shortage

Homes take time to build. When builders slow down now, the supply that would have arrived a year or two from now shrinks. In a county that keeps adding people and jobs, less future building can keep a floor under prices even when the market feels soft in the moment.

What it means for you

For buyers, it is a reminder that the current stretch of higher inventory may not last forever. For investors, tighter future supply supports long term rents and values. Neither is a reason to rush, but both are reasons to have a plan and be ready.
